The perks of having a library card
Library cards are FREE to Georgia residents! Please present your valid Georgia driver’s license or other photo ID with current address at the circulation desk. If your picture ID doesn’t have your current address, please bring two of the following:
Valid voter registration card
Valid matricula consular
Checks with pre-printed address
A utility bill
Visiting from out-of-state and interested in checking out library materials? This charge includes access to our Overdrive Ebooks collection.
A six-month privilege is $25.00
A twelve-month privilege is $50.00.
The replacement fee for a lost library card is $2.00.
We are part of the PINES network of libraries.
FREE Georgia State Parks & Historic Site Passes and FREE Go Fish Education Center Passes
PINES (Public Information Network for Electronic Services) is Georgia’s “borderless library” system that allows PINES card holders free access to books and other materials in more than 275 library branches and affiliated service locations throughout the state. Pines offers users access to more than 10 million books and other materials that can be checked out from and returned to any participating library free of charge. GPLS’s partnership with Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites, a division of the Department of Natural Resources, began in June 2008. Library users are able to check out passes good for free parking and admissions to any State Park or Historic Site for up to 2 weeks. Public libraries began loaning family passes for the Go Fish Education Center in Perry in 2012. The pass provides patrons with free admission for up to four family members.
FREE Zoo Atlanta Passes and
The Center for Puppetry Arts Passport to Puppetry
The Zoo Atlanta Family Pass program began in February 2011. After viewing the library's Zoo Atlanta DVD, library card holders are given a zoo pass good for FREE admission for up to 2 adults and 2 children.
In 2013, Georgia’s public libraries began a new partnership with The Center for Puppetry Arts, and created the “Passport to Puppetry” program. The passes are good for free admission to the museum.
Rabun County's Digital Library - Open 24/7 through Overdrive Ebooks
The Rabun County Public Library provides ebooks to Rabun County residents through a generous donation made by the Friends of the Library.
Ebooks may be checked out and read on any device with internet capability. Ebooks check out for 2 weeks and turn themselves in (so you don't have to worry about overdue fees!). Library card holders who reside outside of Rabun county may purchase access to the ebook collection for $50.00 a year.
