The
Rabun County Library's July exhibit is provided by Mr. Travis Barnes of Tiger. Mr. Barnes is a wood turner, and
is displaying some of his wooden bowls, vases, and other pieces carved from wood such as maple, cherry, and crabapple
found in our local area. Included in the exhibit are some of the tools he uses for his craft. These tools belonged
to his grandfather, and some are more than 150 years old.
The
Barnes exhibit will remain in the library through July 31 and may be viewed during library hours.
The
Rabun County Library offers KeyTrain database access, part of the Georgia Work Readyprogram
established by Gov. Sonny Perdue.Be Work Readyis a one-of-a-kind initiative than encourages unemployed
Georgians to earn a Work Ready Certificate or to improve their skills levels through free, online gap training.
KeyTrain
will allow individuals to practice the Work Ready exams prior to actually taking the test.KeyTrain access will be offered via the library’s Internet stations without charge to library cardholders.Patrons who want to use the KeyTrain program must have computer skills.Library staff will
assist users with establishing a KeyTrain account; however, the staff cannot assist or tutor patrons.The library program offers practice testing only; the actual test must be scheduled through the Rabun County Chamber
of Commerce or other Work Ready testing site.
'Talk About
Books' Discussion Group meets the 2nd Wednesday of
each month at 10:30 in the Library's Hospitality Room. Everyone is invited to share a brief book review.
Coffee and light refreshments are served. You are invited to participate
or listen to others share reviews.
